Citizenship Update Form

Updating your citizenship status in myWSU does not automatically notify those entities that may need this information.

  • Contact Student Financial Services directly if the change will impact your financial aid.
  • Apply for Residency if your status change will make you eligible for resident tuition. Take a Residency Quiz to see if you're eligible.

Obtaining Washington residency for tuition purposes

Your immigration status determines your eligibility for Washington resident tuition. Some Visa's are eligible for resident tuition while others are not. The Residency Quizzes are the best way to see if your status is eligible for resident tuition.

If your status changes, perhaps you have gained permanent resident status, your previous status determines how soon you may be eligible for resident tuition.

  • If your previous status was eligible for resident tuition: You are eligible as soon as you have met the other Washington residency requirements.
  • If your previous status was not eligible for resident tuition: You are eligible 12 months after you applied for permanent resident status and have met the other Washington residency requirements.

Residency Affidavit

Students who have lived in Washington state for 12 months prior to attending college may be eligible for resident tuition using the Residency Affidavit. More information about the Residency Affidavit
