If tuition is due before a residency determination has been made, pay the resident portion of the tuition bill while you wait. See the WSU Academic calendar if these dates are not updated.
Traditional applications are accepted 60 days prior to the start of the term through the 30th day of the term. Allow several WEEKS for processing after your application is submitted. You will be contacted via your WSU email address.

We do not accept paper applications for Undergraduate and Professional students. Please use the online applications linked below.

Other Residency Applications

Residency Affidavit information and application. The affidavit is the easiest application if you personally lived in Washington 12 months before starting college.
Military Residency information and application. For students using VA educational benefits or who have a military-affiliation.
American Indian Residency information and application. For students who are members of certain American Indian tribes.

About our online applications

WSU is utilizing Smartsheet, a FERPA and HIPAA compliant platform, to securely process your residency application and attached documents. Emails from us may come via Smartsheet; please look in your WSU email spam folder if you have not heard from us. We will email your WSU Email address only.

It is highly recommended that you take the Residency Quiz and read about the different types of residency applications prior to selecting an application. The traditional application is the longest and most difficult application; if you are eligible using the Residency Affidavit, the process is easier.
